Call forwarding sends incoming calls to another number, for example when you are travelling or your phone is off.
Where to find it
- Open the Phone app and tap the three-dot menu, then Settings.
- Tap Calls (or Supplementary services), then Call forwarding.
- If you have two SIMs, choose the SIM first.
The four types
- Always forward: every call goes to the other number.
- Forward when busy: only when you are on another call.
- Forward when unanswered: after the phone rings for a while.
- Forward when unreachable: when the phone is off or has no signal.
Enter the destination number with the country code if it is abroad, then confirm.
Test it
Ask a friend to call you, or call your number from another phone. Check that the right type triggers.
Turn it off
Open the same menu and disable each option. Some carriers need a few seconds to confirm. If it still forwards, check your carrier’s account page.
Good to know
- Menu names differ by phone and Android version. Search Settings for “forwarding”.
- Forwarding does not stop spam. See blocking spam calls.
- If forwarding fails, confirm your default phone app is the one you configured.
