Wi-Fi calling lets your phone place and receive normal calls and texts over a Wi-Fi network when mobile signal is weak.
When it helps
- Basements, thick-walled buildings or rural homes with poor signal.
- Abroad, where it may reduce roaming charges for calls home (check your plan).
How to turn it on
- Open Settings → Network and internet (or Connections).
- Tap Calls or SIMs, then Wi-Fi calling.
- Switch it on. If it is missing, your carrier or phone may not support it.
Some carriers ask you to confirm an emergency address the first time.
Making it reliable
- Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network and keep the phone updated.
- A strong 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz signal near the router helps. Very busy public Wi-Fi may be poor.
- If calls drop, toggle Wi-Fi calling off and on, then restart.
