Work through these steps in order. Most problems are solved by the first four.

  1. Check power. Confirm the camera has power. For a bulb camera, the wall switch must be on.
  2. Check the internet. Test another device on the same Wi-Fi. If the internet is down, restart the router.
  3. Move closer or add a repeater. Test the signal strength at the camera’s location with your phone.
  4. Use the right band. Many cameras connect only to 2.4 GHz. Make sure that band is enabled on the router.
  5. Restart the camera. Power it off for 30 seconds, then on.
  6. Update. Install the latest app and camera firmware.
  7. Check router settings. Look for client limits, MAC filtering or a changed Wi-Fi password.
  8. Remove and re-add the camera in the app.
  9. Factory reset as a last step. Save footage first and follow the manufacturer’s reset instructions.

Prevent repeats

  • Give the camera a fixed spot with a stable signal.
  • Keep the router firmware current.
  • Use a strong password and two-factor authentication. See privacy and placement.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my camera go offline at night?

Common causes are a weak signal, router rebooting or an overloaded Wi-Fi channel. Move the router closer or change the channel.

Does the camera need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi?

Many cameras only support 2.4 GHz. Check the product page, and keep your router's 2.4 GHz band enabled.

Will a factory reset delete my footage?

It removes the camera's settings and may delete local storage. Save important clips first.
